Monthly Review - February 2023

One year on

During February 2022 all McArthur BDC staff from the Scunthorpe depot downed tools and opened the doors to over one hundred volunteers to help with the Ukraine crisis. Following on from the success and overwhelming feeling, that our colleagues felt we have implemented a policy enabling all staff to have two days paid leave to go out and support local charities. Charity choice is up to their discretion.

Project progress

During this month McArthur BDC has seen numerous projects either completed, great progress made and new projects started. A local farm in Crowle saw the completion of their drying silos ready for this harvest. Our project at Aberdeen Grain is well underway as is the installation of a new Svegma continuous flow drier in East Yorkshire. Our technicians are working very hard to meet the deadlines and help to make harvest 2023 a smooth-running year for our customers.

Investment at Kelso

Renovations and improvements are well underway at our Kelso depot. The latest work that has taken place is the refurbishment and extension of the office space. The company wanted a fresh look providing staff with an area that feels clean and modern. In addition to the office the workshop has also seen the addition of a new radial arm drill; this will allow the company to take on much more intricate line boring work.

New team members

Finally, February has being a month for new starters due to business growth and development. After working several harvests with the company previously Lucy Smith has taken up the marketing assistant role part-time while finishing her degree.

Josh Manvell joined the company as our health and safety advisor promoting the need for health and safety both on site and in the workshop, primarily based at our head office in Scunthorpe he also travels between Flixborough, Kelso and Marlborough.

Clive Kelly is the latest new starter for February, he joins the Kelso depot as Part Co-Ordinator bringing an agricultural mindset having previous experience within the industry, enabling to hit the ground running ready for a busy 2023 harvest!
