The first silo stirring system was developed in 1963 by Eugene Sukup who created the Sukup Manufacturing Co., Sukup has been a leader in the technology ever since. Development of the grain drying silo for the European market has been led by Denmark-based DanCorn, now Sukup Europe. The equipment is stocked in Hedensted, Denmark and distributed throughout Europe. Sukup Europe support their equipment with project managers and silo assembly teams that undertake silo construction across the continent.
The grain drying silos is suitable for a wide range of combinable crops. The drying silos have a maximum grain depth of 8m and the largest drying silo in the range holds 1,616 tonnes. In addition to the features of a standard flat bottom silo they have, a grain spreader, 2-5 auger stirring system, sweep auger, auger unloading system, perforated floor, centrifugal fan with heater and large roof vents.
There are many unique features that set the Sukup drying silo apart including the option to paint the silos in any of the 1,625 standard RAL colours, options for both oil and gas heaters and enhanced access packages such as spiral staircases, catwalks and roof ladders are available. All silos are designed and manufactured in accordance with Eurocodes.
