Mecmar offer two roaster models, one produces heat with electricity, the other with oil.

Oil Roaster

Mecmar offer a range of oil fired roasters ranging from the T5 model, with a nominal throughput of 0.5tph, to the T100 with a throughput up to 10tph. The process is a continuous one, the crop is loaded into the machine via a hopper and passes through a metering valve onto the chain and flight conveyor. The crop is then moved along a fluidised bed, exposed to high air temperatures for a short period of time. The heat is produced by an oil, gas or LPG burner, in order to reduce energy consumption air is first pre-heated before reaching the roasters furnace. The process is highly controllable with inverters controlling both quantity and time in the roaster.

Electric Roaster

The electric roaster is designed to maximise energy efficientcy and minimise the carbon footprint of the process. With a modest power requirements, that could be provided by renewables, the electric roaster is an innovative development. The TX02 Roaster has a nominal throughput of 0.2tph and is designed to operate continuously. Heat recovery is maximised and as such the TX2 does not require an additional separate cooling process. The crop is loaded into a hopper at the top of the machine and flow is controlled by a continuous outlet roller. The air is pre-heated and recycled allowing very low energy consumption. As the oil roaster the electric model can be used to process a wide range of cereals, pulses and oilseeds.
